Nisai is proud to sponsor the Further Education (FE) Provision of the Year Award at Nasen Awards 2025 | Nisai Learning

We are proud to be the sponsor of the Further Education (FE) Provision of the Year Award, which recognises colleges and providers who go above and beyond to champion inclusive learning opportunities for all students.

The NASEN Awards are a national celebration of excellence in SEND and inclusion, shining a spotlight on schools, colleges, and organisations whose dedication transforms lives. Being shortlisted is a huge achievement; it highlights the incredible impact these institutions make every day.

Good luck to the inspiring nominees:

As a Section 41 Post-16 provider, Nisai Learning understands why young people with special educational needs (SEN) have every reason to pursue Further Education (FE). It’s not just about formal learning; it’s about unlocking independence, confidence, and opportunity.

We have a track record of working with FE providers to deliver innovative partnerships that engage and support young people with special educational needs. The data shows that our programmes almost double the attendance of vulnerable young people, increasing it from 36% to 69%. This is why we know just how transformative great FE provision can be as a stepping stone to adulthood. College provides a bridge between school and adult life, helping young people gradually adjust to more independence. It also offers opportunities for life skills development. Many courses include training in daily living skills, communication, and self-advocacy, which are essential for navigating the world beyond education.

FE colleges have the knowledge and ability to tailor learning environments and programmes with specialist support and flexible pathways. Whether it’s vocational training, academic qualifications, or personal development, students can choose what suits their strengths and aspirations. Great FE provision also prepares students for careers through vocational courses and work-related learning, providing that all-important hands-on, real-world context and experience.

Importantly, there are many emotional and social benefits of FE for young people. Being part of a college environment helps students build friendships, social skills, and a sense of identity. It can be incredibly empowering for those who may have struggled in traditional school settings.

However, we continue to face challenges and barriers in the system. Too often, there is limited availability of specialist provision, and not all colleges are able to offer tailored support. The quality and consistency of SEN support can vary widely between institutions. Despite efforts to foster inclusion, some students still report feeling isolated or struggling to integrate socially. The transition from school to college can be overwhelming.

Further Education isn’t just a continuation of school; it’s a launchpad for a more independent, fulfilling life. Nisai continues to develop its own practice and build important partnerships with FE colleges. Recognising amazing practitioners and projects across the FE sector is central to improving all of our practice. This is why Nisai is proud to be sponsoring the NASEN Award for Further Education Specialist Provision of the Year.
