Before joining Nisai’s online learning programme, our son was struggling. Traditional school environments were not working for him and social interactions felt overwhelming whilst his confidence was at an all-time low. When we were introduced to alternative online education, we were not sure what to expect, but Nisai offered him hope for the first time in years.
The flexibility of virtual learning meant he could choose when and how to interact with others, which was perfect for his needs. Over time, this approach helped ease him back into education and allowed him to work towards meaningful academic qualifications.
He has just applied to Derby College to study Engineering Level 2 course in-person. This is a huge step and one we never imagined would happen three years ago. He is so excited about the future, considering paths in both college and employment. His self-esteem has grown enormously, and we believe much of this is down to the tailored support he has received from Nisai.
His Nisai mentor, Jamie, visits twice a week. She’s been a constant source of encouragement, positivity, and emotional support. Jamie has helped him re-engage with the world beyond our home, motivating him to try new activities and build confidence in his social skills.
A truly proud moment for our family was when Jamie nominated him for an award, which he received at an awards ceremony organised by Nisai at the House of Lords in London. That day symbolised just how far he had come, with Nisai’s help. For families considering online education for children with special educational needs (SEND) or those who don’t thrive in mainstream settings, we wholeheartedly recommend Nisai.
Before I joined Nisai’s online school, I didn’t think I was capable of learning. I’d tried other education providers, but they didn’t work for me, and I started to feel like I lacked ability. Nisai changed all of that.
The teachers were kind and supportive. They never forced anyone to answer questions and made sure everyone felt comfortable. Being able to re-watch lessons if I missed one helped me stay on track, and the online assignments felt manageable rather than stressful.
One of the best parts of my experience has been working with my mentor, Jamie. Over the past two years, she’s taken me out to new places and helped me build my confidence in social situations. Our conversations were always interesting and fun, and thanks to her support, I now feel more comfortable outside the house.
A highlight for me was being invited to the House of Lords to receive a student award. That experience helped me see how far I’ve come, and I felt proud to represent students like me who have benefited from alternative education pathways.
Thanks to Nisai, I now look forward to the future. I’ve applied to college, I’m feeling more confident, and I believe in myself again.
