What is the Online Education Accreditation Scheme (OEAS)?

The Online Education Accreditation Scheme (OEAS) is the Department for Education’s accreditation scheme for online education providers in England.

The scheme provides schools, academy trusts, local authorities, virtual schools and families with confidence that an online education provider has been independently assessed against nationally recognised standards covering:

  • Quality of education
  • Teaching and learning
  • Curriculum
  • Leadership and governance
  • Safeguarding
  • Learner wellbeing
  • Online safety
  • Student outcomes

Following publication of the Ofsted report, the Department for Education formally awarded Nisai Virtual Academy accreditation under the OEAS.
